Dan Nadel’s comics and artbook publishing company, PictureBox, produces gloriously psychedelic avant-garde-yet-enjoyable books and posters from the likes of punk-comix visionary Gary Panter, Paper Rad (a what-if-the-Muppets-took-acid-instead-of-Manhattan art collective), Wilco (with whom he produced a Grammy-winning album package), Brian Chippendale, C.F., Trenton Doyle Hancock and Julie Doucet. He also wrote Art Out of Time: Unknown Comics Visionaries 1900-1969, a collection of insanely creative pre-underground comics and is an always-interesting yet sometimes-prickly critic for the magazine/ blog ComicsComics.
