But it’s also about the tragedy of time, and how it affects love. And it’s brilliant—as is the 32-year-old Galchen, who grew up in Oklahoma in a house full of Hebrew books, graduated from Princeton, volunteered in Peru and is already being called Thomas Pynchon’s successor.
