Rivka Galchen

After an acclaimed 2007 New Yorker story, Rivka Galchen, who has a medical degree in psychiatry, published Atmospheric Disturbances and Other Sad Meteorological Phenomena about a shrink who becomes convinced that his wife is an imposter. But it’s also about the tragedy of time, and how it affects love. And it’s brilliant—as is the 32-year-old Galchen, who grew up in Oklahoma in a house full of Hebrew books, graduated from Princeton, volunteered in Peru and is already being called Thomas Pynchon’s successor.
