Dan Schlissel may have “had the nerve to start producing [Lewis Black’s] CDs before anybody else,” as the eternally pissed-off comedian put it in a Grammy acceptance speech, but he also had the cojones to keep at it. From a warehouse in Northeast Minneapolis, Schlissel has produced albums under his Stand Up! Records comedy label by many an irreverent comic—including Doug “You are a shithead, but I can make you feel like you’re not the only shithead” Stanhope.
