Impatient with the dearth of short-form blogging platforms, David Karp decided to make his own. Enter Tumblr, the ultraeasy blogger’s tool that encourages users to be as succinct or as thorough as they like. Unlike some other web innovators, Karp cares more about refining his creation for its enthusiasts than he does about selling it to a megacorporation. With hopes of having one million registered users by the end of the year, Tumblr aims to change not just who builds the blogosphere, but how.
