Does “environmentally-sound fashion” conjure images of dirt-hued hemp parkas? Jonathan Marcoschamer decided it shouldn’t. In 2004, he co-founded Ecoist, the Miami-based company whose gifts and fashion accessories are made from landfill-bound materials. But, looking at the shiny handbags and woven bracelets, you’d never know it. Marcoschamer realized the public cares about the environment, but it cares about style first.
