When Israeli émigré Oren Peli went to the Slamdance Film Festival with his modest indie shocker, Paranormal Activity, in January, he was just a humble game designer. But that was before this surprisingly potent horror movie, which takes the form of a documentary about a couple trying to get rid of ghosts haunting their home, made it impossible for droves of festival audiences to sleep at night and for DreamWorks to resist buying the remake rights.
