Kip Berman is the lead singer and guitarist of The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, a Brooklyn band whose self-titled album, replete with Berman’s put-you-in-a-trance-and-then-crush-your-soul lyrics, dropped this year. Berman, who used to trick friends into coming to his shows with the promise of beer, is now playing sold-out concerts across the country.
