In 2005, Ben Lerer hijacked the DailyCandy business model of a trendy, online lifestyle, fashion and beauty newsletter and man-ified the concept to create Thrillist.com. Initially focused solely on the NYC area, the free daily publication now delivers urban recommendations for anything that concerns the modern male in six (soon to be seven) cities. Lerer and his growing team plan to add even more editions and they’d better hurry; subscriptions are up 500 percent this year.
