Shmarya Rosenberg’s FailedMessiah.com has set a new standard for blogging in the Jewish world. His research and advocacy helped bring a U.S. raid on the Agriprocessors plant (Rubashkin’s): The world’s largest kosher meat producer was allegedly employing illegal immigrants and treating them with robber-baron standards. Standing up to ultra-Orthodox wrongdoing is a somewhat risky business: Rosenberg claims to have received numerous physical threats and to have been excommunicateded by Chabad, a move that may hinder his employment prospects at Jewish agencies, but only served to bolster his standing as an important online voice.
