Enter an East Village cafe, a West Village jazz club, a Lower East side bar. Don’t be surprised to hear Hebrew in the air. Welcome to New York’s Israeli invasion.

RAFAEL AVRAMOVICH, 28, Furniture Designer and SALIT DAVIDSON, 22, Psychology Student, both from Tel Aviv:
(RAFAEL) I like the lifestyle here. I feel comfortable here. But I miss my family…Twelve hours just to see the family makes it such a big deal.

DAVID BARUCH, 23, Mover from Devaria:
You want the honest answer? After the army there really isn’t anything to do in Israel if you aren’t going to school…I came over just to visit, and see how it’s going. I see it’s going well and stayed.

YAEL OREN (AKA DJ POW POW), 30, DJ/Graphic Designer from Tel Aviv:
...I tried to leave New York already and I couldn’t. I had to come back here…But it’s also difficult to live here. It’s a rat race.
