Todd Solondtz’s timid nasal voice sounds like every hackneyed black comedian’s Lame White Guy impression. He wears big, thick, green-rimmed glasses that beckon schoolyard bullies to break them, and he dresses like your grandfather. Solondtz, who as a child hoped to become a rabbi, has more recently positioned himself as a newer, less touchy-feely Woody Allen for the MTV generation. But instead of one-liners about therapy and bad dates, Solondtz finds hilarity in things like homosexual pedophilia and cerebral palsy, and while he doesn’t seem to pride himself on his nerdy avenger reputation, he doesn’t exactly dispute it, either. His most recent film, Storytelling, came out earlier this year.
