Heeb Best of 5768: Television

Your calendar for 5769 may already be posted on your wall, but let’s not forget that 5768 wasn’t too shabby in its own right. In honor of the beginning of the Jewish new year, our editors once again gaze backwards to give you the best in arts and culture of the past lunar year. Below, check out the best in television.

1. Mad Men (AMC)

Cable network AMC might describe Mad Men as a critical take on a NYC advertising agency in the Eisenhower Era, but the series is also a bold celebration of old school martini culture, a seductive milieu that taps into the immoral side in all of us. The hour-long flashy dramedy romances with chain-smoking, Windsor knots, and liquid lunches – while indulging in a world rife with anti-semitism and ass-grabbing. The characters don’t wear their seatbelts on their way to their midtown offices, and creator Matthew Weiner certainly doesn’t ask us to wear ours as we’re devilishly enjoying the ride on the couch. BRIAN ABRAMS

2. Flight of Conchords (HBO)

3. Chuck (NBC)

4. 30 Rock (NBC)

5. In Treatment (HBO)

6. The Wire (HBO)

7. The Office (NBC)

8. It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia (FX)

9. Dexter (Showtime)

10. Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job (Adult Swim)
