Heeb

Those of you who weren’t among the guests at our book party for photographer—and Heeb contributing editor—Naomi Harris can head to a Taschen store and pick up a copy of America Swings: Swinging Sex Lives of Everyday Americans. Over the years, Harris has shot dozens of subjects for Heeb including Sarah Silverman for the cover of our "Sex Issue." It brings us great joy that she’s moved on to shoots less sleazy than the ones we regularly produce for the mag.

With a forward by Richard Prince, America Swings depicts 38 swinger parties, which Harris captured over a three-year period. They were couples-only parties, with exceptions made only for “Mandingos” (African-American men entrusted with the task of servicing white wives) and Harris herself. Crisscrossing the country, documenting multi-orgasmic schoolteachers, polyamorous nurses and bisexual senior citizens took its toll on Harris. She put her love life on hold while shooting. “Plus, my libido was killed,” says Harris.
