There were minimal surprises at last night’s 66th Annual Golden Globe Awards. Comeback kid/perennial cokewhore Mickey Rourke snatched up the Globe for Best Actor in a Drama while the Hollywood/Bollywood tour-de-force Slumdog Millionaire clutched the award for Best Picture.

And another unsurprising winner this year? Jewish stuff.  

Kate Winslet won the award for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama for her role as a former SS prison guard on trial for war crimes in the Holocaust drama, The Reader,  to which funnyman Ricky Gervais (in my book, witty Brits are def considered honorary Jews) hilariously responded, "What did I tell you Winslet: Do a Holocaust movie and win an award. That’s the trouble with Holocaust films: There’s no gag reel on DVD." 

Waltz with Bashir won for Best Foreign Language Film. In his acceptance speech, Bashir Director Ari Folman made a subtle but well-played reference to the current Arab/Israeli conflict. If he had shown up, the Kings of the Nebs himself, Woody Allen, would have delighted in winning the Globe for Best Picture – Musical/Comedy for Vicky Cristina Barcelona (that’s pronounced Barc(the)lona) while Monsieur le Jew, Steven Spielberg, won the Cecil B. DeMille Award for outstanding service to the entertainment field (ie: Munich and Schindler’s List). 

In a completely different vein, however, serial button-pusher (and "Throw the Jew Down the Well" crooner) Sascha Baron Cohen totally bombed with his unwelcomed jabs at Victoria Beckham, Charlie Sheen and Kabbalah queen, Madonna.
