Heeb 100 Alum Tushy-Shtups With A Vengeance
So two weeks back in Fort Worth, Texas, a random tool awaited the results of Letter Scavenger Hunt #8 on Downtownfortworth.com. However, the winner of this hunt wasn’t posted in a timely fashion, and said tool tipped off Fort Worth Star-Telegram’s Barry Shlachter (a.k.a. bike shorts, above). Smelling a Pulitzer, the biz reporter got to the bottom of this important issue.
Shlachmiester tracked down the helmer of this site, Heeb 100 alum Robert McKee (sheeny curse wand, above), who at the time was in Scotland, scattering his father’s ashes (hence the delay in announcing the stupid results).
Shlachter nevertheless mocked McKee in his column, and here’s where the story really begins. As revenge for Shlachter’s insensitivity, McKee, in classic tushy-shtup fashion, launched a "fan" page on the newspaper man, which gets updated every three days.
The site ranks higher on Google than anything Shlachter has written his entire journalistic career, which probably isn’t saying much.

Shlachter is a premier league salad-puncher.

How in the world did this journalist not think to buy the url of his own name? And people wonder why old media is dying.

BS is of the old-school, getting lazy about finding a real local business story, throwing caution to the wind and offending people to spice up a very mundane column, and snub the powers of “all that new-fangled Internets the kids are using these days!” His smirky face reminds me of all too many arrogant older reporters who are kept around more for tenure than talent quality.
Jewish-themed magazines for the win!

Barry Shlachter is notorious for trying to dredge up nonexistent controversies to make his boring stories more interesting, and this story is one more example of his faux sensationalism, finally getting the best of him. The Barry site is brilliant and I’m glad that fellow took a stand even if he doesn’t get his well-deserved apology.

He didn’t buy the domain name because he’s an old and probably thought crusty old newspapers trumped the power of anything electronic. I like how this site can be up for a decade with very little overhead; that, to me, is way more contentious than some stupid and heartless article about nothing. That website ranking near the top in Google will stand in the way of anything this guy hopes to ever do once he finally ends up getting fired.

After reading the entire saga, there is no question this reporter should be tossed. To publicly desecrate a burial service in such a needless manner in an effort to be funny is inexcusable.

Like Hitler’s legacy, Barrygate shall never die.
And on a coincidental note, they both knew each other fondly.

Like Hitler’s legacy, Barrygate will never die.
In fact, they were frenemies ‘til the end.
