Because We Need More Menorah Songs
One thing I’m consistently grateful for is how, every year, there’s some band that contributes to popular culture by musically reminding us just how fun the Festival of Lights can be. And if they do it with a catchy, harmonious melody the urban youth culture can enjoy, even better.
OK, I’m just kidding. The garage act Gods of Fire and their new album, Hanukkah Gone Metal, probably comes in a close second to the shittiest thing in the entire history of new Jewry. Really, it makes me want to just close up shop altogether around here.
Here’s a little gem from the album, which you can hear live December 12 during, of all things, a dreidel tournament at the Knitting Factory in NYC:

The Knitting Factory used to do all kinds of crazy Jewish shit. Now they mostly do lame 18+ hardcore shows.
