“Funny, He Doesn’t Look Unconventional.”
Last month, The New Yorker’s David Denby said of Seth Rogen: “He has the round face and sottish grin of a Jewish Bacchus.” Meanwhile, Defamer recently cited Jonah Hill as proof of “Hollywood’s current love affair with doughy and nonthreatening Semitic writer/actor/comedians.” And yesterday, The New York Press went so far as to proclaim the cinematic moment represented by Apatow and Rogen, the “Jew Wave.”
Apatow and Rogen seem to agree with these ethnic readings of their work. On EW.com they suggest that when people say they love the “unconventional” heroes of Knocked Up and Superbad they really mean the Jewish heroes. As in: “There are too many goddamn unconventionals at this country club,” jokes Rogen.

For some reason, I’ve always pictured Hesed as looking like Seth Rogen. Hesed, do you look like Seth Rogen?
On another note, would Larry David be considered an example of threatening Semitic writer/actor/comedians?
