Blame it on Rio
If your image of Carnival in Rio is similar to the photo above, you’re in for a rude and somewhat bizarre shock. This year, a group in Rio plans to include a Holocaust-themed float in the festivities. We at Heeb are known for our irrevence, but even we have our limits. This is undoubtedly the biggest dose of anti-Viagra to hot Brazilian chickness since Bob Dylan appeared in that Victoria’s Secret commercial with Adriana Lima.

let a gentile brazilian try to explain the situation better :
each group (escola de samba) has a theme developping it in costumes lyrics and floats, this particular group, Viradouro, this year, developed the “things that make you shiver” theme, from joy to horror, thus float number 5 being so, the float to blame. Not at all an act of irreverence, it was supposed depict the horror humanity can bare in itself, the horror that makes one shivers as much as joy does. From the photos I’ve seen on the net, the float in itself, though quite tacky in a way, was supposed to throw a glimpse of horror in the well prepared cortege. In the past, Viradouro presented a Jesus-Christ the roman church had by justice made wrapped in a wild Christo-like way.
From my point of view Viradouro’s weakness was to evoke solely the Shoah as symbol of the unthinkable horror we humans are capable of, and not the idea of genocide in its full scale and scope.
