When Jewdar hears that someone is doing a humorous look at Jewish culture, we reach for our pistol. When we were informed that Carlos Mencia had done a Cultural Explorer piece on everyone’s favorite semites, we confess that we did experience a certain amount of trepidation. Unlike our feelings towards ham, Islam, and prison sex, we figured we’d try it out before rejecting it. While some of the jokes were a little on the trite side, nonetheless, we smirked, smiled and even laughed, at least enough to give it the highly coveted JK (that’s the Jewdar Kosher symbol). Who knows, maybe Mencia’s got a little marrano in him after all.

See I was totally down with it based on my teenage viewing of assorted women in prison films, but then I watched Oz, and it seemed way less cool.

I was calling Mencia a hack, not Jewdar. Jewdar’s comedy is too campy to be anything but his own.
