Join Heeb for a screening of Anvil! at the San Francisco Jewish Film Festval. Anvil! a mockumentary—think This Is Spinal Tap goes to Canada—but it’s actually a real documentary that follows the antics, on- and offstage, of a once famous Canadian metal band, Anvil, founded in the 1970s by two Toronto school friends (and NJBs). Anvil had a megahit album in 1982, influencing a generation of metal bands; the director of the documentary was their roadie during those years and revisits the band’s founders to figure out what went wrong. The film drew rave reviews at Sundance this year, and we think it’s pretty hilarious. Both the director and the stars of the doc will be at the screening, so it should be a good time.
